making it up as I go along...

So we're in Vietnam now and having stumbled upon (read thoroughly researched and desperately made time to get there) an amazing place called Hoi An, it has been a struggle to leave! Not only are there gorgeous beaches within cycling distance, cute little cafes and restaurants and lovely people, this is also the home of made-to-measure tailoring over here. If you are going to Vietnam in the future make sure you give this place a visit... you will return with a wardrobe full of new clothes but a considerably lighter purse - albeit a stunningly handmade leather one! First trip (this will happen to you too beware) I managed to get a silk maxi dress, another one in jersey, two shirts, a maxi skirt and some palazzo trousers made up to exactly how I had drawn and explained them... This then became addictive as I went back after struggling with my conscience for a while and adding a camel cape (my favourite and something I can't wait to wear back in the UK) and another silk maxi dress to my now growing wardrobe. It's all been packaged up and sent back to England now so I won't get to see them for a while but will post photos once I get back home...

clip-clopping into summer

Clogs to wear with ankle socks, clogs on their own, clogs for leather shorts with vests, clogs for dresses alone...

Now that my winter boots have broken, to be fixed, only to break again I think I will turn this loss into a positive and use the boot money to buy myself a pair of lovely (if slightly ugly... I love ugly footwear!) clogs. Zara's are the best that I've tried so far - now should I go for the fringed ones or the clumpy strapped pair? Decisions decisions!

it's getting hot in here...

Went to my first session of Bikram yoga last night... WOW is it hard work or what?! Seriously, if you think it's all meditation and calm soothing poses think again! I felt hot, sweaty, sick and dizzy all in the space of 90minutes and very hot room.

Fingers crossed the next one will be better and I will then be the proud owner of a body that can happily wear this...

(my newest purchase - love it!) To be honest I have worn it already regardless - eek watch out Bristol until I am fully in shape! Until then I am wearing it strictly with long maxi skirts - not brave enough for shorts yet... plus I'd freeeeeeeze!

holiday, celebrate!

Permanent Vacation is the website behind which a group of very clever creatives based in Sweden. Releasing two collections a year, you can track their moods during the creation process through Nordic woollens to printed romantic balloon skirts. With designing not the only string to their bow, it may be the beautiful photography that captures your heart, the collaborative projects or the open and free ethos that embodies Permanent Vacation. One thing is for sure, you won't leave the site without feeling inspired (and I defy you to not be trying to figure out some way to get yourself a piece of the magic)

***Sale is on now so get yourself there and embrace one of these pieces into your wardrobe - I've personally got my eye on the Lilly skirt and Elfriede dungaree-style dress...

fanny and the cave

However rude this sounds, I'm actually talking about a wonderful, special place (no really, not what you're thinking!) that is Fanny and the Cave. The place to go if you want see, be close to, touch, dress up and buy 90's fashion in an exclusive and underground showroom. As well as being a genius showroom owner and inspiration, Fanny has also styled a number of spectacular shoots, which you can see on the website here. Surely a must for any stylist worth their salt, what I would give to get inside that cave and delve into the wondrous things it beholds..!

Visit www.fannyandthecave.com to revel in some dream-like clothing. Meanwhile feast your eyes on this lot.
